New business hub for Robina

Success of Easy T Centre sparks new development with more space

A NEW $200 million business hub at Robina is set to complement the existing town centre retail and business district.

The business

centre will be developed in the next decade and will include dining, retail, commercial, showroom and light industry space.

It will be developed on

10 hectares around the junction of Christine Avenue and Scottsdale Drive, the site of the Easy T Centre - a popular retail, dining and healthcare precinct - and will encompass the Robina Automall and the Dog and Parrot tavern.

The automall, home to Robina Holden, will accommodate the Gold Coast's Grand Motors Mercedes dealership.

Grand Motors has invested $15 million in the development of extensive showroom and workshop facilities and will relocate its Mercedes dealership from Southport on completion - in a matter of weeks.

The new hub is planned by Robina Projects Australia in association with Robina Land Corporation, the company responsible for the evolution of Robina.

The two companies developed the Easy T Centre, now owned by NSW interests, and are responsible for a number of other commercial and mixed-use projects including the HQ at Robina and Eastside office buildings.

Robina Projects Australia general manager Hylton Slater says the decision to develop the new business centre was prompted by the outstanding popularity of the Easy T Centre, which has retail, dining, healthcare and commercial components.

"Research shows that the Easy T Centre sits on an intersection traversed by more than 17,000 vehicles each day and it has evolved as a well-patronised community hub since opening in October," he says.

"An extension of the centre is now under construction while Sidewalk on Scottsdale, a building with two floors of apartments above ground-level retail and commercial space, is earmarked for nearby land.

"The Easy T Centre is trading so well and these two projects have been so well received that we are now exploring a concept which will see the Christine Avenue-Scottsdale Drive junction become the focus of a significant business centre with convenience as its core theme."

Mr Slater says Sidewalk on Scottsdale was more than 50 per cent sold ahead of a construction start and leasing of the Easy T Centre extension was travelling well.

"Both developments have encountered an impressive demand for space which is an indication not only of the growth occurring at Robina, but also of the recognition that it is now accorded as a business location," says Mr Slater.

"The new hub will encompass the Dog and Parrot tavern, a popular venue that has dining and gaming facilities, and the automall, which is the focus of major inquiry from vehicle industry interests."
