BUSINESS News Publications has appointed group editor Geoff Stead (pictured) to replace Jason Oxenbridge, who will leave the company on March 23.

Stead will edit the company’s market-defining publications and websites, Brisbane Business News, Gold Coast Business News and Brisbane Legal, starting with the April
editions.

He also will oversee a stable of successful custom magazines titles including Your City Gold Coast for Gold Coast City Council, Precinct for Surfers Paradise Alliance, Grind for Zarraffa’s Coffee along with
many others.

Stead is a career journalist who brings more than 30 years’ experience and creative achievement in media and publishing to the role.

He has worked as an editor and reporter in some of the most challenging and competitive forums covering state-wide news, politics, economics and business, social and community issues and lifestyle trends.

Previous appointments include night editor/deputy editor at The New York Post, sports editor at The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) and associate editor at Brisbane’s Sunday Mail.

Business News Publications managing director Camilla Jansen welcomed the appointment and says Stead brings a wealth of experience as an editor to the company’s flagship titles.

“Our business mastheads and websites have set an extremely high mark for breaking news stories and reporting the key industry information that provides our local business owners and investors with a competitive edge,’’ she says.

“Geoff’s experience and knowledge of issues that directly affect Queensland-based businesses will ensure Brisbane Business News and Gold Coast Business News magazines remain must-reads every month. ”

Jansen also paid homage to outgoing editor Jason Oxenbridge, who she says was instrumental in the company’s growth.

‘’Jason’s played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s suite of mastheads over the past six years. His valuable contribution has helped Business News Publications become the success story it is today and we wish him well in his future endeavours,” says Jansen.

Stead will help drive the Business News Publications’ continued growth with more custom titles in the pipeline for 2012 – including Bond University’s The ARCH, which will be written and designed by Business News Publications’ team.

“Our magazines and websites deliver informative insights into local business developments and market trends through breaking news, in-depth investigation and behind-the-scenes features,” he says.

“Our staff writers live and breathe news and business. Through their high quality reporting and expert analysis we will continue to provide our readers with the latest news and interesting feature stories that keep our readers engaged.”
