The resort's 405-room makeover will include new colour schemes, soft furnishings, decor and modern slim line LCD television screens. The newly renovated lobby has been designed to showcase the property's view over the Southport Broadwater.

General manager Ernst Pfister says the renovations were essential if the resort was to continue to attract a slice of the robust inbound tourism market.

"After 19 years on the Coast, Sea World Resort is an Australian icon. We are 100 per cent committed to providing our guests with the best service and facilities and to do that we must continually look for ways to improve and update our product."

The project is being undertaken by Glenzeil the Builder and Alan Griffith Architects Pty Ltd, with a completion date set for the end of August.
