ANTI BIO founder and inventor David Telfer has discovered a water purification technique that could one day ensure developing nations have clean drinking water.

With mentorship from local business identity Terry Morris, Mr Telfer was encouraged to diversify earlier techniques he had designed using micro electronic technology to emit sound frequencies in beer lines in bars, giving the beer a cleaner, crisper taste. His research resulted in a patent for the removal of cell matter from water.

The team decided to initially use the patent to focus on the commercial swimming pool industry. A microchip unit is installed in the pool and transmits sound frequencies around the pool filter pipes, effectively reducing up to 100 per cent of bacteria and up to 70 per cent of waterborne parasites, such as Cryptosporidium, without the use of any chemicals. Anti Bio now counts as customers the Australian Institute of Sport and hundreds of commercial sites around Australia.

The system has also sold to resorts and theme parks in 15 countries, with the residential market its next target. Mr Telfer says the real potential of the system, however, lies in treating town water supplies and industrial wastewater.
