Small businesses have a new one-stop Government hotline

A NEW one stop business hotline to provide a single government entry point for small business has been established by the Beattie Government.

Small Business Minister Chris Cummins says the hotline will ensure that businesses receive the most appropriate support available.

"It will also reduce the 'run around' often experienced in locating services and assistance from across government as well as increasing awareness of and access to government services," he says.

"Hotline staff will help callers with all support and assist with information including grants available to business from Queensland and Commonwealth Government agencies.

"They'll also be able to provide information on business licence applications and business planning and related tools. "Currently there are several different numbers in use - the hotline will now be promoted to Queensland business as their one stop business assistance contact."

The hotline number, 1300 363 711, will be available during business hours and the information available would also be online at the Smart Small Business Website 24 hours a day, seven days a week - www.smartsmallbusiness.qld.gov.au.

"Most business clients seeking services from the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation will only have to make one call to access the services they need," he says.

"However, if referrals are required they will be tailored to the client's needs, helping businesses to get on with doing business sooner."
