Career intelligence

Mar, 2007

A ROBINA company is doing its bit to ensure the south-east's top athletes are set up for a future beyond sport.

Career Intelligence is the brainchild of Naomi Lawrence and offers career management training.

Thanks to the guidance and support of Ms Lawrence, a number of Queensland Reds Squad players have enrolled in tertiary study at Griffith University. Students include Clinton Schifcofske, Henari Veratau, Cameron Treloar and Ben Coutts.

"It's a great pleasure to see so many professional athletes showing a pro-active interest in tertiary study. The culture of the Reds squad and the work put in to prepare these young men for life outside football is exciting to be a part of," says Ms Lawrence.

"The Queensland Rugby Union and Rugby Union Players Association invest a lot of time and energy into creating athletes who take responsibility for themselves and who, by the time they've completed their studies, are motivated and articulate about their plans for life."

The company doesn't work with the Reds alone. Mentoring is being sought from athletes in baseball, basketball and surf lifesaving too.
