AN IT training and solutions company has been selected by Microsoft Learning to deliver the first Microsoft Official Distance Learning (MODL) Pilot training program in the APAC region - one of only 10 pilots worldwide.

ITTS submitted a business case focused on the geographical challenges faced by many regional offices in Queensland in gaining access to professional technical training courses and certification testing.

"We are delighted to be working with ITTS, one of our Gold Certified Partners, on the Microsoft Official Distance Learning pilot in Australia" says Pip Marlow, director for Microsoft Small and Medium Business and Partner Group.

"It's another great example of one of our partners in Queensland being at the forefront of our new technologies in the APAC region."

ITTS general manager Curtis Chappell says the company has plans to work closely with local Queensland Government CIO's to identify interested agencies that want to get involved.

"We believe this blended training solution will not only facilitate access to technical training in regional Queensland, but will allow organisations who were previously hindered by limited employee resources to up-skill to the new Microsoft technologies without negatively impacting their business," he says.

Mr Chappell says approved Queensland Government agencies may be able to take advantage of SPF funding to refund the training investment.

MODL is currently available for specific Windows Server 2003 and SQL 2005 courses.

The blended learning program utilises live training online via LiveMeeting, Microsoft E-Learning and an interactive Toolwire portal and virtual server to offer students a true, blended training solution in real time.

ITTS is also working closely with Pearson VUE to provide a mobile certification testing solution to those regions partaking in the MODL Pilot training program.
