Spectacular success in Outback

< Previous Next >

Mar, 2007

WARNER Village Theme Parks' $23 million Australian Outback Spectacular is broadening its appeal to international visitors as part of its commitment to tourism growth in the Gold
Coast region.

Management and staff have been working on a new multi-lingual headset system for the show - winner of Tourism Queensland's Best New Development Award - to enable up to 1000 patrons to simultaneously hear the production in their chosen language.

"The new multi-lingual headset system will be of great benefit to non-English speaking visitors travelling to the Gold Coast - as well as English-speaking guests who may have a hearing impediment," says Warner Village Theme Parks chief executive officer John Menzies.

He says the 90-minute show will now be explained in five languages, with the translations relayed via a device similar to a small transistor radio with earphones.

The FM broadcast can be changed back and forth between the five selected languages at the click of a button. The languages currently available and being tested are Chinese, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese and Arabic.

"Warner Village Theme Parks is continuing to grow and develop new strategies and initiatives to promote growth to the area and enhance the overall infrastructure" says Mr Menzies.

Almost 300,000 people - equating to around $23 million in ticket sales - have passed through the Australian Outback Spectacular's gates since it opened in April last year.
