Flying the flag for Team Australia

< Previous Next >

Jan, 2007

GOLD Coast businessman and property developer Craig Gore will be more immersed in race proceedings than most during three nail-biting days at Indy.

Mr Gore is the co-owner of the distinctive green and gold Team Australia champ car team - adding plenty of Aussie and Queensland parochialism to the event - while his financial services company, Wright Patton Shakespeare, powers two cars in the V8 Supercar Championship.

He says the involvement of Team Australia in 2005 made the Gold Coast race an 'Australian' event.

"The Lexmark Indy 300 has developed into Australia's biggest international motorsport event and we are proud that Team Australia has played a part in that," says Mr Gore.

"This iconic Queensland event just seems to get bigger and bigger every year and I think having an Australian-owned team with an Australian driver on board has stirred local passions for the champ race.

"Nothing has made me more proud than seeing 10,000 green and gold flags surround the course last year - and this October it is going to be even bigger.

"We have committed more to Australian motorsport on a broader scale than any other company in the past three years and believe our returns have justified our investment," he says.

Lexmark Indy 300 chairman Terry Mackenroth says the inclusion of an Australian team in the Ocotber race has provided a massive boost to the series
in Australia.

"It cannot be underestimated the support that the series, the team and our event have received in the past two years because of this Aussie involvement," he says.
