COMMERCE Queensland has consulted with members and local Chambers of Commerce throughout the State to determine the issues business believes to be the most important.

The consultation included a survey, which reveals infrastructure and development, state taxation and government spending, workplace health and safety, skill shortages and reducing regulation and red tape as the key areas of concern.

Commerce Queensland president Beatrice Booth says infrastructure is of particular importance to businesses throughout Queensland, water supply capturing the attention of the business community across the State.

"The survey reveals that businesses are concerned about the impact of future water restrictions and costs on business production, with almost 90 per cent of respondents willing to use recycled water," says Mrs Booth.

"It seems that electricity blackouts are a possibility and an increase in water costs is a certainty if the next government does not get infrastructure right now, for the future."
