THE Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort has been announced as Best Hotel in Regional Queensland by chief industry body the Hotel, Motel & Accommodation Association (HMAA) at its Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence 2006.

The winner was chosen by a panel of industry experts from state and national offices, based on written nominations and industry reputation.

Ken Duddy, director of sales and marketing at the Resort, says the award is particularly rewarding as an industry insider nominated the hotel.

"One of our industry colleagues thinks highly enough of us to put our name in for the award - and we couldn't be more thrilled," says Mr Duddy.

"While we love receiving any award, it is very flattering to receive one because someone who really knows the business put us up for it."
